Overview of Crypto Workforce
As per a latest report, a total of 10,000 companies employing roughly 200,000 people were scattered across the cryptocurrency sector. More than 60% of employees were working in trading and investment-related services while 40,000 employees worked on projects involving core blockchain technology such as blockchain protocols, analytics and mining. The non-fungible token (NFT) industry also saw growth with 12,000 people employed in NFT and NFT gaming projects. The United States housed a whopping 30% of the global crypto workforce despite regulatory obstacles and lack of clarity regarding local laws.
Trading & Investment Services
Trading and investment related jobs were found to be most popular with more than 60% employees working in exchanges, brokerages and other crypto financial services. Binance and Coinbase were consistently ranked as top blockchain companies in the world due to their large number of users for asset trading purposes.
Core Blockchain Technology
The demand for projects involving core blockchain technology has shot up over time with nearly 40,000 employees working on such projects according to the report from K33 Research firm. This is indicative that decentralization is gaining traction among businesses as they move away from traditional centralized systems towards new technologies like blockchain.
Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
The Non Fungible Token (NFT) industry gained mainstream consciousness in 2021-22 on the back of celebrity endorsements making it one of the fastest growing sectors within cryptocurrency space with 12,000 people employed in NFT and NFT gaming projects according to K33’s research report .
U.S Leadership
Despite regulatory obstacles and lack of clarity regarding local laws ,the United States has remained the epicenter for crypto related enterprises housing 30 percent of global crypto workforce thus maintaining its leadership position globally .
